Deputy Curriculum Leader of Maths

Bristol Brunel Academy are seeking a well-qualified Deputy Curriculum Leader to join our happy and successful Maths Department. They must demonstrate a passion and commitment to make their students love the subject as much as they do. The right candidate will need a personality that is vibrant and engaging, and who demonstrates both strong classroom management and organisational skills. They should also be able to build and maintain authentic relationships with their students and colleagues and strive to become an integral part of the BBA community.

As a department, we are driven by a desire to provide our cohort with the highest expectations so that all students, regardless of their starting point, have the tools to succeed and achieve their full potential. We are looking for someone who shares these values. In addition to having a strong subject knowledge of Mathematics, we would also look for a colleague who has a passion for Teaching and Learning and who will engage enthusiastically in furthering their own personal development, as well as the development of others.

Bristol Brunel Academy is part of the Cabot Learning Federation (CLF). Bristol Brunel Academy is a forward thinking Academy based in Speedwell, Bristol, rated “Good” by Ofsted in 2023. The Academy are consistently over-subscribed in every year group and have been expanding numbers on roll each year making it one of the largest secondary schools in the city. The students are excited to learn and are real ambassadors for our diverse community, visitors comment on the 'pride' in the Academy from staff and students. They benefit from a hugely positive and supportive learning environment and state of the art facilities.

We provide excellent training and development opportunities within the Federation, including a full induction programme for early career and experienced teachers. Training is both local and/or delivered through our excellent stand-alone training facility at the CLF Institute. For teachers, the CLF Institute aims to provide a continuum of development through each career stage from initial teacher training (ITT), for early career teachers (ECT), recently qualified teachers in their early career development, to successive stages of leadership through to Headship and beyond. 

What we are looking for:

We look for passionate individuals who want to be a part of transforming education and will make an active contribution to the development of the Cabot Learning Federation and Bristol Brunel Academy. You will be used to planning and consistently delivering high quality lessons, will have experience in delivering the curriculum in your chosen area and will be a strong communicator with the ability to embrace change and motivate colleagues and students. A well-qualified specialist, holding QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, you will have the ability to teach from Key Stage 3- Key Stage 4. We look for professionals who have excellent class management skills and have high expectations of work and behaviour.
