We are looking for Exam Invigilators to join our supportive and friendly Exams Teams within Cabot Learning Federation. We are looking for professional, ambitious and caring people with a passion for transforming our students’ learning, and enabling a positive exams experience.
As an Exams Invigilator you will assist the Exams Team in the efficient delivery of the regular internal and external exams held throughout the academic year, these usually fall within November, January and March. The Summer exams are held in May and June. There are also mock exams for Years 9, 10 and 11 at different times throughout the year. You will ensure that the conduct of internal and external examinations takes place in accordance with Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations and Academy procedures.
Exams Invigilators will ensure the candidates exam experience is a positive and supportive one; enabling that each candidate has an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities. As this is a centrally appointed role you will be allocated a main Academy to work for but may be asked, if willing, to work across a variety of the local CLF academies at different times depending on academy needs.
The working hours for this role can vary as exam environments are required to be set up before the beginning of the school day and on occasions can continue after the school day has finished.
This role requires a strong sense of responsibility, good communication skills, punctuality and organisation, plus the ability to use your initiative, to remain calm and vigilant is a must. Although you will receive training, you will find that common sense is key to this role, and you will quickly learn on the job.
Main roles will include:
- Assisting in the setting up of the examination room.
- Helping in the opening and distribution of question papers and other authorised materials to candidates.
- Supervising the orderly entry of students into the exam room and ensuring that they are correctly seated according to the seating plan.
- Dealing with late comers and candidates not on the candidate list.
- Starting examinations according to the regulations and ensuring that the examination regulations are observed throughout the exam.
- Maintaining active invigilation throughout the examination to ensure that no cheating occurs.
- Taking responsibility for a group of candidates when in the exam room.
- Ending exams in accordance with the regulations.
- Collecting exam scripts and arranging in candidate number order.
- Returning all exam scripts, unused papers, registers and other materials to the Exams Office immediately after the end of the exam.
- Maintaining security and confidentiality.
