We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Higher Level Teaching Assistants to join us as we open our brand new Cabot Learning Federation SEMH Special School in September 2022.  

This exciting opportunity will see the new SEMH Special School launched as a new academy in temporary accommodation in Nailsea, North Somerset.  

There, it will initially provide approximately 20 places for children of both sexes in the age range 11-14. Subject to achieving the required planning consents, from September 2024, the school will move to new purpose-built accommodation in Churchill, North Somerset. 

The new CLF SEMH Special School will provide 65 places for children of both sexes aged 5-16 with a primary need of social, emotional and mental health. 

CLF propose to offer children across four key stages the opportunity to connect with and better understand themselves, their communities and the wider world. The school will offer an individualised curriculum that will focus on supporting pupils to discover their talents and develop their strengths. 

As part of the CLF family of schools in the region, the new SEMH Special School will sit alongside Snowdon Village, a multi-site alternative provision which has more than ten years of expertise. 

As a new school opening in an established multi-academy trust, the successful applicant will have a unique opportunity to craft an exceptional learning environment for a new generation of learners, re-shaping the educational landscape and positively influencing a whole community.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Level 3 to complement the work of teachers by taking responsibility for developing and delivering agreed learning activities under an appropriate system of supervision. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities or being responsible for specific provision for individuals, groups and whole classes. Undertake specified work, including delivering lessons to small groups or whole classes on a regular basis within an agreed system of supervision and pre-determined framework.  Play a significant role in the educational, personal and social development of designated students, advancing learning under the direction and guidance of relevant colleagues (e.g. the Principal, SENCO and class teachers.) Support students in accessing the curriculum, engaging with their learning and achieving their full potential by employing relevant strategies and techniques developed as a result of significant experience, specialist knowledge, skill and expertise. Deliver measurable impact on student attainment as well as social and emotional well-being, the benefits of which are likely to extend beyond the individual student or class in order to have a wider positive impact. Support, coach or manage other colleagues to develop their practice.
