Your opportunity to play a key role in keeping our academy safe, clean, and welcoming during weekend operations.

Weekends are a crucial time for the academy, with community bookings, essential checks, and important site tasks taking place outside the standard school week. As our Weekend Premises Assistant, you will be central to ensuring the site remains secure, well‑maintained, and ready for use. This role offers variety, independence, and the chance to support the smooth running of the academy by completing core responsibilities such as opening and locking the site, carrying out routine maintenance tasks, monitoring health and safety, and ensuring the building and grounds remain safe for all users. Working under the guidance of the Premises Manager and as part of the wider Cabot Learning Federation Estates and Facilities Team, you will take pride in contributing to a positive, welcoming environment for both students and community users.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a dependable and proactive Weekend Premises Assistant to support the day‑to‑day running of the site outside normal weekday hours. Your duties will include basic repairs, routine checks, assisting with cleanliness, waste collection, seasonal tasks, and maintaining the safety and security of the academy.

You will take instruction from the Premises Manager, work confidently on your own during weekends, and bring flexibility and initiative to your work. While experience in a similar role is desirable, we welcome applicants with transferable skills and a willingness to learn.

You will be responsible for:

  • Opening and locking the academy site during weekend hours
  • Supporting site safety and responding to any minor issues
  • Carrying out basic maintenance and promptly reporting concerns
  • Assisting with litter collection and general site upkeep
  • Moving equipment or furniture as required
  • Communicating effectively with staff, visitors, contractors, and community users

Weekend working requires reliability and independence, and we are looking for someone who can manage their responsibilities confidently and professionally.

About you

You will demonstrate:

  • A basic understanding of health and safety, with willingness to complete training
  • The ability to work independently without direct supervision, as well as part of a wider team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately
  • Flexibility to manage a variety of tasks during weekend site use
  • A calm, reliable, and professional approach
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team and make a meaningful contribution to the smooth, safe operation of the academy during weekends.

Applicants are advised to refer to the full requirements of the role in the attached job description and person specification, prior to submitting an application.
