Are you practical and looking for a hands-on job with lots of variety? Are you reliable with a positive 'can do' attitude’? If so, we can provide you with a great opportunity to play a very important part in the efficient running of a large secondary school by providing a safe, secure and comfortable environment for the students and staff at Hans Price Academy. As Premises Manager, you will be physically fit and competent to carry out a range of duties from opening-up to emergency repairs. Your understanding of building maintenance schedules as well as being able to demonstrate effective prioritisation skills will put you at a considerable advantage.

What we are looking for:

To be successful in the post, you will be an experienced Premises or Buildings Manager who can work independently and proactively to ensure a safe and well-maintained leaning environment. You will be physically fit and be able to demonstrate your understanding of budget management, building systems and maintenance tasks as well as show effective organisational and prioritisation abilities. Transferrable skills from a similar type role or background will be considered.

We are looking for someone helpful and reliable who is willing to meet the needs of the academy and has a variety of practical skills to apply to the general upkeep, operation and site safety of the buildings and grounds. You will take direction from the Deputy Estates Manager, be IT literate, flexible in your approach to work and be able to form excellent working relationships with Academy staff, students and central colleagues.

This role is Academy based and sits within the wider Cabot Learning Federation Estates Team. You will undertake a wide range of duties including:

  • Responding to a demanding and varied workload
  • Helping to ensure the grounds and buildings are open, clean and hazard free
  • Conducting and recording required compliance checks
  • Prioritising reactive repairs and maintenance
  • Seasonal weather duties (e.g. clearing snow, gutters and drains)
  • Maintaining security of the site including unlocking/locking
  • Energy management and reporting
  • Premises budget management, ordering and approving invoices
  • Contractor management, induction and issuing permits
  • Developing collaborative working relationships
  • Communicating appropriately with students

The successful candidate will receive training in fire safety, asbestos awareness, control of legionella and various other site safety and compliance checks.
