Additional role info: Working Pattern - Monday to Friday. Located on the former Weston Airfield site, Airfield Primary Academy will serve the communities of Haywood Village.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join Airfield Primary Academy, a brand‑new primary school opening in September 2026, and to be part of the founding team shaping an academy from its very first intake of children.

Opening initially with Reception Year only, Airfield Primary Academy will welcome its first 30 pupils and grow year on year to become a thriving three‑form‑entry primary school with nursery, serving the expanding Haywood Village community in Weston-Super-Mare.

As a Class Teacher, you will play a key role in establishing high expectations, nurturing positive relationships and creating a joyful, ambitious learning environment where every child feels safe, valued and inspired to learn.

The Role:

We are seeking an inspirational and dedicated teacher with a strong commitment to early years education and child‑centred practice. This role offers the opportunity to help design and embed excellent teaching, learning and routines from the outset, ensuring strong foundations for pupils’ learning and development.

You will use your skills, creativity and professional judgement to deliver high‑quality teaching that supports children’s academic progress, personal development and wellbeing. Working collaboratively within a growing team, you will contribute to shaping the culture, curriculum and ethos of our new academy.

About you:

You will be:

  • a qualified teacher or hold an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • able to deliver the curriculum in your chosen area and consistently teach high quality lessons across relevant key stages.
  • able to meet the needs of learners from key identified groups, including pupil premium, looked after children, SEND and High Attaining students.
  • a strong communicator with the ability to embrace change, motivate colleagues and build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • able to recognise, value and support the delivery of opportunities which extend beyond the confines of classroom delivery and seek to enrich and add value to the students experience & learning.
  • empowered to develop your own expert practice and support the development of others.
  • highly competent in all elements of the Teachers’ Standards and your achievements and contribution will be substantial and sustained as an Upper Pay Scale teacher.

About Airfield Primary Academy:

Airfield Primary Academy is a brand‑new primary school opening in September 2026 on the former Weston Airfield site in Haywood Village, Weston-Super-Mare. The school will serve the local community of Haywood Village, a growing development of around 6,500 homes, and will form an integral part of the area’s educational provision.

The academy will open initially with 30 Reception pupils, growing year by year to accommodate up to 630 pupils when full. In addition, the site will include a 102‑place nursery offering all‑year‑round provision for children aged 2–4, with separate access and a dedicated kitchen.

The purpose‑built school will be set within extensive outdoor spaces designed to support learning and play, including nature areas, grass and all‑weather sports pitches and shared community sports facilities. These resources will help establish the academy as a vibrant hub for both education and community life.
