Job Title: Senior Food Technician

Actual Annual Salary: £19,415 - £20,930 Based on hours and working weeks

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £27,964 - £30,146 (CLF Grade C) Based on 37 hours per week, all year round.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Part-Time, 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only plus inset days

Additional role info: Monday to Friday, 6 hours per day. Hours can be discussed at interview.

Your opportunity to put your food knowledge and creative skills to the good use:

Working as a Senior Food Technology Technician within the Creative Department at Broadoak Academy, this role requires an individual with experience in the food industry. Responsibilities include ordering materials for classes, preparing and portioning food for lessons, supporting teaching staff during practical sessions, taking ownership of health and safety within the food rooms, and receiving and storing food deliveries.

Working closely with the Head of Department and teaching staff, the Senior Food Technology Technician will also support other technicians across the academy to facilitate excellent teaching and learning within the department. The postholder will be proactive in developing a strong understanding of the curriculum and will help to plan, facilitate, and design safe, engaging practical activities that enhance learning for both staff and students. They will maintain a strong health and safety culture, ensuring that all relevant regulations and guidelines are consistently adhered to.

About you:

You will:

  • Have practical experience of understanding and following processes and procedures.
  • Be educated to a minimum of A Level standard in appropriate technology field and/or equivalent experience in food science
  • Have experience of using, cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring the safety of specialist equipment.
  • Hold a relevant vocational qualification e.g, Food Hygiene certificate where post is expected to regularly handle food and associated substances.
