Job Title: Student Support (TA Level 1) 

Actual Annual Salary: £7,442 - £8,111 Based on hours and working weeks. 

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £26,798 - £29,208 (CLF Grade B) Based on Full Time hours, All year round.  

Contract Type: Fixed Contract until August 2027 

Hours: Part-Time, 12 hours per week, Term Time Only (plus INSET days) 

Working Pattern: Likely to be Monday and Tuesday, but dependant on student timetables and so days of work will be confirmed at interview stage.

We are looking for a passionate, motivated, and committed individual to support the academic, personal, and social development of students within our Post-16 provision. Working under the guidance of teaching and pastoral colleagues, you will help students access the curriculum, develop independent learning skills, and engage fully in their studies, enabling them to achieve their individual goals and aspirations. 

We are seeking someone who is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young people, both inside and beyond the classroom. You will support the delivery of planned learning activities and programmes, adapting your approach in response to students' needs and progress as well as support SEND students. Encouraging independence, confidence, and resilience, you will help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can succeed. 

Working collaboratively with teaching, pastoral, and wider academy staff, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality educational experiences and promoting the wellbeing, achievement, and future life chances of all students within our Post-16 community.

About you: 

You will: 

  • have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities, and how a Student Support worker supports students in their learning and development. 
  • be able to engage students and manage behaviour effectively on a one-to-one or small group basis, using appropriate strategies tailored to individual learning needs. 
  • be committed to undertake relevant qualifications, e.g. relevant NVQ Level 2/ 3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, first aid qualification, to ensure ongoing professional development. 
  • demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to show empathy and actively listen when working with students who may require additional support. 
  • have good planning and organisational skills, especially in preparing and adapting learning activities and support materials to meet the diverse needs learners. 
  • be someone with a genuine interest in working with people at Key Stage 5 level and a strong commitment to inclusion and the acceptance of all learners, regardless of their abilities or backgrounds.

About CLF Post 16: 

The CLF Post 16 Academy is situated in South Gloucestershire, hosted at John Cabot Academy, and serves the students of Bristol across two local authorities. We are a centre of education for ages 16-19 offering a range of level 1, 2 and 3 vocational courses and a full breadth of A Level qualifications.
