Job Title: Teacher of Religious Studies and English

Due to an internal secondment, City Academy Bristol are looking for a passionate and inspiring qualified Teacher of RE & English to join our supportive and talented team. Religious Studies is a successful and valued subject and we have a well-established, collaborative department. Most students choose to study Religious Studies at GCSE and enjoy the enthusiastic discussion and academic rigour. We have an exciting curriculum that encourages our students to develop their own voice and better understand their peers. We are looking for a dynamic professional who is ambitious and has a passion for teaching and learning, as well as being happy to support our English department when required.

This role is offered on a Part time basis (four days per week) until August 2024.

Training is both local and/or delivered through our excellent stand-alone training facility at the CLF Institute. For teachers, the CLF Institute aims to provide a continuum of development through each career stage from initial teacher training (ITT), for Early Career Teachers (ECT), recently qualified teachers in their early career development, to successive stages of leadership through to Headship and beyond.

What we are looking for:

We look for passionate individuals who want to be a part of transforming education and will make an active contribution to the development of the Cabot Learning Federation and chosen Academy. You will be used to planning and consistently delivering high quality lessons, will have experience in delivering the curriculum in your chosen area and will be a strong communicator with the ability to embrace change and motivate colleagues and students. A well-qualified specialist, holding QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, you will have the ability to teach Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 We look for professionals who have excellent class management skills and have high expectations of work and behaviour.

Students arrive in the academy with very low prior attainment, with the Year 11 for 2021 having an average scaled score of 95.2(national average =102.4), 73% of Year 9 entered the school with a reading age below their chronological age and 24% having a reading age of less than 9 years old on entry.
