Science Teacher

Salary – M1 to UPS3

Possibility of a TLR for the right applicant with leadership experience or ambitions

Permanent, Full Time

We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Science teacher to join our talented team at Tewkesbury Academy. We are a 11-18 school offering a range of courses at KS4 and 5 including GCSE, A Levels and BTEC level 3 qualifications. We are an ambitions organisation on a journey to promote equity in education and transform students’ learning. We are excited to be entering our second year working as part of the Cabot Learning Federation. As the only secondary school in our town, we are proud of our status as a true comprehensive and delight in the strong relationships we have with our community.

Our science teachers are supported by 3 full time technicians who accommodate teacher requests and ensure that students experience a wide variety of practical lessons. Each science teacher has their own lab, fully stocked with class sets of specialist equipment. Extra-curricular science clubs, strong careers links and participation in national competitions mean that Tewkesbury Academy’s science department is an exciting and vibrant place to work.

A well-qualified specialist, holding QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant degree, you will have the ability to teach Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. We look for professionals who have excellent class management skills and have high expectations of work and behaviour.

We have several positions available, and welcome applicants from all disciplines, with a preference for chemistry and physics specialists. There is the possibility of a TLR for the right candidate.

The young people at Tewkesbury Academy are our finest ambassadors exemplifying hard work, kindness and good manners. They benefit from a hugely positive and supportive learning environment housed in a wonderful campus with great facilities and grounds. You will have the opportunity to work alongside outstanding teachers, to observe and share practice on a regular basis, developing pedagogy through reflection.

Tewkesbury Academy is a well-established school at the heart of the historic market town of Tewkesbury providing an education to a cohort of 1200 plus students, aged 11-18. We are well placed at Junction 9 of the M5 and close to the Cotswolds, the Malvern Hills and the historic towns of Gloucester, Worcester and Cheltenham.

Within the academy and as part of the Cabot Learning Federation, we can offer you the opportunity to advance your career within a supportive environment. We provide excellent training and development opportunities within the Federation, including a full induction programme for early career and experienced teachers. Training is both local and/or delivered through our excellent stand-alone training facility at the CLF Institute. For teachers, the CLF Institute aims to provide a continuum of development through each career stage from initial teacher training (ITT), for Early Career Teachers (ECT), recently qualified teachers in their early career development, to successive stages of leadership through to Headship and beyond.

The Cabot Learning Federation is a diverse Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) in the South West. We currently sponsor eight secondary academies, nine primary academies, an all through provision, a studio school, a discrete Post 16 provision and an alternative provision which consists of one primary and three secondary phases. CLF is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The trust is proud to serve a diverse student population and their communities. We actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion. We are proud to be part of a vibrant community and celebrate the richness of cultures, faiths and backgrounds of our students. We aim to develop a curriculum that is responsive to our pupils needs and reflects their diverse interests and backgrounds.

The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will, in accordance with statutory guidance, be subject to a comprehensive pre-employment checking process including references from current and previous employers, health, right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS check and a further check against the appropriate barred list. This role involves working with children on a daily basis and is therefore in regulated activity.

Please submit your application form via the CLF recruitment portal. CV’s will not be accepted and any submitted will not be considered alongside your application.

Safeguarding Statement:
