Job Title:  Early Years Teaching Assistant – Level 2 (also known as Learning Partner)

Actual Annual Salary: £20,036 - £21,600 Based on hours and week worked

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £28,859 - £31,111 (CLF Grade C) Based on full time hours, all year round.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 30 hours per week - Part Time, Term Time Only plus Inset days 

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm.

Our brand-new Primary Academy in Weston super Mare is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant Level 2 to join our newly formed academy team. This role will play an important part in supporting children’s learning, development and day-to-day classroom experience, helping to uphold high expectations for engagement, progress and personal growth across Airfield Primary Academy.

Support students by adopting relevant strategies, techniques and play, to enable them to access the curriculum, engage with their learning and achieve their full potential. Take responsibility for implementing planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to students’ responses as appropriate. Deliver measurable impact on student attainment as well as social and emotional well-being. Work collaboratively with relevant colleagues to fulfil the requirements of the role.

  • Have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and how a teaching assistant supports students in their learning.
  • Be able to engage students and manage behaviour on a one‑to‑one or small‑group basis.
  • Good literacy and numeracy competency (evidenced by GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above, equivalent qualifications or experience).
  • Possesses relevant Early Years Educator level 3 qualification (or equivalent qualification taken from www .gov.uk/government/collections/early-years-and-childcare-guidance-for-providers.)
  • Commitment to undertake relevant qualifications and to ensure ongoing professional development.
  • Have good planning and organisational skills, specifically regarding learning activities and support materials.
  • Be someone with a keen interest in working with children and committed to inclusion and acceptance of all.

About Airfield Primary Academy:

Airfield Primary Academy is a new primary school opening in September 2026 on the former Weston Airfield site in Haywood Village, Weston-Super-Mare. The school will serve the local community of Haywood Village, a growing development of around 6,500 homes, and will form an integral part of the area’s educational provision.

The academy will open initially with 30 Reception pupils, growing year by year to accommodate up to 630 pupils when full. In addition, the site will include a 102‑place nursery offering all‑year‑round provision for children aged 2–4, with separate access and a dedicated kitchen.

The purpose‑built school will be set within extensive outdoor spaces designed to support learning and play, including nature areas, grass and all‑weather sports pitches and shared community sports facilities. These resources will help establish the academy as a vibrant hub for both education and community life.
