As the ‘Further Education College of the year 2019’, we have a fantastic opportunity to appoint a motivated and inspiring individual to manage, develop and promote an effective Learning Resource Centre. The jobholder will be passionate about supporting students’ learning and their development to be effective, independent learners.
You’ll be required to develop, manage, organise and promote an inclusive and accessible library, information and resource centre which is central to the curriculum and support staff and students using the Centre. You’ll also be asked to manage the Learning Resource Assistants and manage the Learning Resource budget effectively, ensuring value for money working with the Student Support Manager.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Learning Centre Manager to lead our Learning Resources, Study Centre and Social Learning Centre and staff teams. You must have experience of leading and managing or supervising the delivery of front-line services working with electronic library and database systems and or managing/coordinating Independent learning study skills and learner behaviour. You will be highly organised and experienced working with young people and adults.
The ideal candidate will be meticulous and precise in their work of ordering, recording and caring for resources, friendly and customer-oriented for the outward-facing parts of their job, passionate about reading and well-read and up-to-date both in digital and print publishing. Good IT skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including spread sheets and database) is required, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to build good relationships with colleagues and learner in the college community.
