Could you drive the colleges employer focussed activities and make a significant breakthrough in the way we engage external stakeholders?

Managing Director - Skills, Employability and Apprenticeships

Location: Sandwell College, West Midlands.

Salary: up to £80k plus generous benefits package

This is a key, new role to fulfil the college’s big ambitions and to ensure it is adequately equipped for change. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in truly innovating the curriculum offer and in raising the profile of an organisation through the development of partnership working.

Sandwell College is a great place to work; a large, successful, richly diverse and growing college with a turnover of over £40m. The College has achieved huge success over recent years and has further, big ambitions for its future.

The college has two state of the art campuses in West Bromwich accessible through excellent transport links and, having merged with Cadbury College, now has an exciting and growing Sixth Form College in Birmingham.

The college is continuing with its ambitious plans for development and with the support of local Universities, Sandwell Council and NHS partners are part of a significant multi-million pound Towns Fund investment programme.

Having achieved ‘Further Education College of the year’ in 2019, the college is far from complacent knowing there is much more to do to create the very best learning environments for our students; in preparing for T-Levels and the development of large scale industrial placements – both being key aspects of this role.

The successful candidate will understand the ways in which effective, commercial activity can strengthen the student experience and they will have a successful track record in forging a broad range of employer and stakeholder relationships.

A richly experienced and inspirational leader within education, the successful postholder will have a raft of experience including policy development, engaging with employers and a deep understanding of the demands and challenges that lie ahead for the world of further education.

This is a unique opportunity to play a leading role in achieving our ambitions and to contribute and further enhance the impact we have on the lives of those we serve.

If you have the drive to lead lasting change through innovation, bringing stakeholders with you, we would love to hear from you.

The post will close at midnight on 10th December 2020.
