Teacher of French

required for September 2026

Part time (50%) and permanent (Salary: MPS + UPS if eligible)

The opportunity has arisen to join this highly successful, thriving and dynamic International Languages Department. The successful candidate will become an integral part of a highly experienced and supportive team with a strong commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.

French is a popular and successful subject at both GCSE and A Level, with healthy student numbers across Key Stages 4 and 5. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deliver French at Key Stage 3, and the ability to also teach German would be desirable, supporting the continued breadth and strength of the department’s language offer.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teacher of French, or for a teacher at the start of their career who is keen to develop their subject expertise and gain experience of teaching within a strong departmental structure.

Results at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 are consistently amongst the highest in the region and rank among the strongest in Wales, reflecting the department’s high expectations, strong outcomes and commitment to excellence in language learning.

Our school is set in the heart of the beautiful village of Caerleon which is steeped in Roman history and Arthurian legend. Caerleon attracts visitors from all over the world who come and see some of the finest Roman remains in the UK.

Just a short drive from the M4 and the city of Newport, the school enjoys easy accessibility.

The school is popular, highly regarded and has a thriving Sixth Form of over 300 pupils. Our catchment area draws pupils in from a wide geographical area.

The school is proud of its inclusive ethos and has a tradition of ‘maximising potential’ for all.
