An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Part time Animal Encounters Officer based at our Enfield Site.

The post-holder will take responsibility for the College’s day-to-day routine care of the College’s animal stock in accordance with the animal welfare policy to include cleaning out of accommodation, provision of feed, water, bedding, nesting material, and daily health checks. A key requirement is to coordinate and supervise college students and volunteers carrying out practical duties in animal areas at weekends as well as coordinating and supervising animal interactive education sessions, taster days and activities for prospective students in liaison with schools. This also includes coordinating and supervising animal interactive sessions for the public at weekends.

The successful candidate will hold a Level 2 qualification or higher in an animal care discipline and have experience of caring for a range of rodents, exotic animals, birds and farm-stock on a day-to-day basis.

The ideal candidate will be assisting academic staff within the School, supervising students and providing technical assistance and advice as required. You will also be supporting students in the finding of work experience placements and complete records relating to routine animal care, reporting any abnormalities or problems to Line Manager as appropriate. Part of the role also involves ordering feed, bedding and other consumables for all centres as required in consultation with Line Manager as well as storage, security and stock control of such consumables.
