Hywel Dda Primary School is a highly inclusive, successful, warm and community-focused school. We are very excited to be opening a Special Resource Base for children with autism/social-communication needs, either with a diagnosis of autism or on the neurodevelopmental pathway with the primary barrier of communication and interaction. The initial class, for 10 pupils, will open in September 2026, and will extend to a 20-place base, with 2 classes, the following year.

We are seeking three skilled, caring, enthusiastic and resilient teaching assistants to be part of the staff team for this exciting addition to our school. The successful candidates will be part of the school’s support staff team and will help ensure the needs of the children are met, both in the base and when they integrate for activities in the mainstream classes.

A commitment to play/sensory based and experiential learning, both indoors and outdoors, is essential.

These roles require people with empathy, patience and who understand the importance of effective communication and engagement with families. The successful candidate will need to be a team player and collaborate effectively with the other staff at all levels.
