To increase our love of God:
  • through the Eucharist and the sacraments
  • through meeting God in the Scriptures
  • through meeting God in prayer
  • through a sense of wonder at what the world tells us about God
  • through the Spirit manifest in our lives

To increase our love of neighbours, seeing Christ in them:

  • through listening
  • through trying to understand the needs of others
  • through being part of the community
  • through helping others
  • through learning about the people of the world
  • through acknowledging the rights of others

To increase self esteem, knowing that we must value ourselves before valuing others:

  • through following the right path
  • through modelling ourselves on Christ and His saints
  • through fulfilling our duties
  • through always doing our best
  • through communicating
  • through the constant search for excellence

  • To increase our love of God in all our endeavours
  • To increase our love of neighbours, seeing Christ in them
  • To increase self-esteem, knowing that we must value ourselves before we can value others

And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, to test him. "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And Jesus said to him "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets." (Matthew 22.35-40)

About Us

The foundation stone of Cardinal Griffin Catholic College was laid on the 22nd October, 1960, by Dom. Basil Griffin, the twin brother of the Cardinal whose name we honor. It was built to serve the four Catholic Parishes of the Chase and has always welcomed the children of parents seeking a distinctly Christian-based education. The College has developed into a thriving community of around 900 pupils with a Sixth Form of more than 130 students.

We aim to offer a broad and balanced education with an emphasis on respect for others. We provide a traditional environment in terms of care and welfare of children and young adults. In essence, we seek to develop all pupils to their full potential and to enable them to find their place in the modern world.

Safeguarding Recruitment Statement

This College is committed to the safeguarding and promoting of the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders Act (1974). Therefore this position is subject to appropriate vetting procedures, including criminal records checks from the Disclosure and Barring service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions in your application form.
