City of Bristol College is part way through a journey of significant transformation and success. A large further and higher education college offering a wide range of academic and vocational programmes across four main centres, we are committed to creating lifetime opportunities across our communities, while enhancing local prosperity. We are based at the heart of a vibrant, economically robust city which prioritises education and skills through its visionary Learning City strategy.

We have a range of exciting recent successes under our belt. We have established an exciting partnership with the University of the West of England, creating a dual branded university centre in South Bristol which will positively impact progression and widen participation in higher education. Our curriculum strategy is employer-focused and well-aligned to local economic priorities, and we have developed ground-breaking work-based learning programmes with large key employers. Our impressive campuses, which have benefitted from significant investment over the last ten years, have been further enhanced by a new £9m advanced construction skills centre at South Bristol Skills Academy.

We are on a positive journey of quality improvement, with robust measures in place to deliver good outcomes and clear progress seen in recent monitoring visits. Moreover, our financial health has stabilised, our income has increased and our annual cash generation and surplus are among the best in the FE sector.

We are seeking a new Vice Principal Curriculum and Quality who will play a key role in the continuous and rapid improvement in quality across all areas of our provision, leading us to a Good Ofsted outcome in our next inspection. Reporting to the Chief Executive and Acting Principal, the new postholder will be responsible for the design, development and successful delivery of further and higher education across the college, ensuring that our curriculum is innovative, responsive and continually evolving to meet the needs of the city. Inspiring and motivating our staff to deliver to the highest standards will also be of paramount importance. This is a Senior Post Holder role, so there will be ample opportunity to work with the Board of Governors and Executive Team, to play a key part in the strategic direction and positioning of the college.

We are seeking a progressive, results-focused individual with senior curriculum and quality leadership experience in further education and a clear track record of quality improvement and Ofsted success. You will have the credibility to inspire staff and learners, with a passion for achieving excellence and championing ongoing high quality improvement, combined with people skills of the highest order to get the best out of staff and gain maximum buy-in.

We are fully committed to creating a college that reflects the community that we serve and take seriously our commitment to tackle inequality and disadvantage where we find it.  Equality, diversity and inclusion is one of our key strategic themes which runs through everything we do; we would particularly welcome applications from individuals from groups that are underrepresented in our management team including women, those with BAME heritage and people with a disability.
