Clarendon Academy is looking for experienced Teacher or ECT to join its dedicated Resource Base for students with complex cognition and learning needs. This is a wonderful opportunity to provide support for secondary aged students who require a more specialist provision than mainstream, but who do not need a special school.
We are a thriving co-educational, non-denominational secondary school and sixth form, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 18. Located in the bustling town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, we pride ourselves on being a centre of excellence where young, enthusiastic children enter in Year 7 and leave us at the end of Year 13 as fully rounded young adults. Our staff aim for every lesson, every day, to be exceptional and work tirelessly to ensure students feel that they belong and can achieve their dreams. We are part of the Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to collaborate and improve local education. In June 2023 we retained our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating and were praised for offering a high-quality, well sequenced curriculum with the inspectors commenting that “pupils feel safe and cared for in this welcoming and friendly school.”
As a Teacher within our 20 student Resource Base, you will be able to teach across the full age and ability range and will be passionate about teaching children with learning difficulties, speech, language and communication needs as well as maintaining high standards. You will also be committed to developing expertise in the teaching of pupils with SEND and will work closely with the Trust SEND team and our Senior Leadership team to deliver our vision. Qualified Teacher status is essential for the role.
We are looking for someone who:
• Is committed to developing expertise in the teaching of pupils with complex cognition and learning needs;
• Has proven ability to raise the outcomes for pupils;
• Is able to plan and teach a broad range of engaging and effective lessons that motivate, inspire and improve student attainment across a range of activities;
• Can ensure that teaching is broad, balanced, relevant, motivational and appropriately adapted in order to maximise the academic potential of all students;
• Can demonstrate effective behaviour management;
• Has a commitment to securing successful preparation for adulthood for students with SEND;
• Can work in partnership with parents, school staff and outside agencies;
• Has high levels of professionalism, the ability to work hard and remain calm under pressure;
• Has an outstanding commitment to ongoing professional development;
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills with high levels of emotional intelligence;
• Is committed to safeguarding all children and adults.
We can offer the successful candidate:
• Training opportunities;
• The opportunity to further your career;
• Supportive line management and networking opportunities with other Resource Bases within the Trust;
• A caring and dynamic team of colleagues;
• A commitment to achieving the best for all of our pupils and staff.
