Working Hours: Full Time or Part time, to suit the right candidate

Contract Type: Temporary - for a duration of one year or until the conclusion of the named employee's maternity leave, whichever is the shorter period

Salary: Main Scale 1-6 or Upper Pay Scale 1-3 as appropriate

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate teacher of English to join our high achieving English department. The successful candidate will:

• Have excellent qualifications and subject knowledge

• Have a passion and enthusiasm for English

• Encourage, motivate and inspire students

• Have good organisational and communication skills

• Be an excellent practitioner

The English Department

The English department at Commonweal is highly successful. We are successful because we are passionate about our subject, and engaging students throughout all Key Stages. We aim that they should enjoy their lessons and gain an ever better understanding of the world of literature and richness of the English language and so achieve great results at both GCSE and A level. This is in part achieved with a comprehensively planned and resourced curriculum which exposes them to a wide range of texts. It is further supported through building positive relationships with students and building emphasis on students taking responsibility for the level of their own success. The English Department are a reflective and supportive team. We look forward to welcoming a new member of staff who can be an active part of a department we’re proud of.
