We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate colleague to support students so they can overcome challenges, manage feelings, self-regulate and access learning. The successful candidate will:

• Have a passion and enthusiasm for helping and supporting young people

• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Encourage, motivate and inspire students

• Be a flexible, resilient and supportive team player

Experience working with young people is essential, but experience in a directly comparable role isn’t necessarily required. We would welcome applications from people with experience of different kinds. This post would suit someone looking for a varied and high energy role working with young people. The role will involve:

• Providing one to one and group support for students experiencing barriers to learning such as anxiety or personal trauma

• Intervening with students who are dysregulated to de-escalate situations and promote good behaviour

• Supervising students who are working outside of lessons, ensuring students are on task and learning well

• Being on call for periods of time to intervene with young people showing disruptive behaviour in lessons

• Liaising with colleagues to provide students with appropriate individual support

We focus on employee wellbeing, and an important part of this is the opportunity for every staff member in all roles to have a voice at our school.

At The Commonweal School we are proud that we are an inclusive and welcoming community. We are committed to equality of opportunities for all staff, and applications are welcome from individuals from all backgrounds, inclusive of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, and marriage and civil partnerships.
