The PE Department
The well-established department is known for its dynamic and inclusive approach, ensuring every student feels motivated and engaged. The department offers a comprehensive curriculum that balances theory and practical elements from KS3 to KS5. At KS3, students are exposed to a wide variety of sports and activities, fostering a lifelong passion for physical education. Extra-curricular activities, inter-school competitions, and sports trips are integral parts of the programme, encouraging students to fully engage and immerse themselves. The uptake at Key Stage 4 is impressive, with students having the option to pursue either OCR GCSE Physical Education or the OCR Cambridge National in Sports Studies. The Key Stage 5 program builds on the foundations laid at KS4, offering OCR A-Level PE, as well as the Cambridge Technical in Sport and Physical Activity, available as both an extended certificate and a diploma. We have a comprehensively planned and resourced curriculum and aim to ensure students get the best experience in lessons, these are regularly changed and adapted to suit our students to ensure they receive high quality teaching. We also have a Swindon Town Football programme at KS5 that offers elite training and competition opportunities for our sixth form students. The PE team is excited to welcome a new member to our friendly and supportive community.
