Craven College is an aspirational College set in friendly and inclusive rural campuses in Skipton within the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, at The Aviation Academy based airside at Leeds Bradford Airport and at Evolve in the heart of Ripon. We are a Good College (Ofsted 2018) and offer full-time courses for 16-18 year olds, outstanding apprenticeships, courses for young people with special educational needs, part-time courses and degree level courses with a mission statement of ‘enriching lives through learning’. Tyro Training is our commercial training division which offers a wide range of training courses for both individuals and businesses in Skipton.
We continuously invest in our excellent, industry standard facilities with a new £1.6m purpose-built Animal Management Centre on our Aireville Campus followed in 2022 by the construction of new equestrian facilities including an international sized arena and outdoor warm up area.
Skipton has good transport links and is easily accessible from Burnley 19 miles, Bradford 18 miles, Keighley 10 miles and Harrogate 22 miles.
We are currently seeking to employ an inspirational and motivated Careers Manager to lead, develop, implement and be operationally responsible for the College’s Information, Advice and Guidance programme and provision.
The ideal candidate will line manage the Work Experience and Industry Placement Team and the development of the provision of extended work placements for T-Level qualification. Ensure the provision of a professional, customer focused service so that potential students receive appropriate and timely advice and guidance in line with individual requirements to promote the services of the College. Monitor delivery of the Careers Programme and guidance across the eight Gatsby Benchmarks using the Compass evaluation tool.
Essential requirements:
- A recognised qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance at Level 6.
- A degree or significant relevant experience in a related role
- Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
- Experience of successfully leading and managing staff and conducting appraisals/progress development reviews
- Extensive experience of delivering careers education and vocational guidance within an educational setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Careers Strategy, Gatsby Benchmarks, Matrix Quality Standard and Quality in Careers Standard Award
- Experience of working with young people with a learning difficulty / disability during transition, promoting high aspirations and securing positive outcomes
- Experience of building and maintaining partnerships with internal staff and external professionals, companies, higher education institution, FE, and training provider
- Experience of work of working with SEND learners and education health care plans
- Experience to design and develop careers related interactive session and resources for learners of all abilities
- Experience of working collaboratively to embed careers in the curriculum
- Knowledge of available careers resources, websites, online information sources
- Experience of Microsoft office products, especially Excel and Word
- Knowledge and experience of the UCAS Apply System
- Excellent team working skills and the ability to manage own workload
- A proactive, energetic customer focused and results oriented approach
- Proven administrative and organisational skills
- Ability to assimilate and present full and accurate information, both written and verbal, in a clear and concise manner
- Well organised, capable of working under pressure, meeting deadlines and targets, managing caseloads and with minimal supervision
- Strong team player, committed to an ethos of continuous improvement
- The ability to develop and maintain own professional knowledge, skills and experience, including formal training
- Able to use Microsoft Office packages and CRM systems
- Flexible approach to working which includes support for Open Events and Enrolment
