The Governing Body at Cyfarthfa High School is excited to appoint an outstanding and professional Deputy Headteacher to join our leadership team to take forward our school. The wellbeing of the school community is at the centre of the ethos of Cyfarthfa High School. Our school holds a strong position within the town of Merthyr Tydfil and is proud to contribute to the wider local community.

Governors are seeking to appoint an inspirational leader who has a clear and compelling vision and a strong belief in the importance of education, supporting the Headteacher and working with the Senior Leadership Team to drive the school’s mission. You will enable learners to become ambitious, capable and well-rounded citizens through high quality learning and teaching in a supportive environment.

We are looking for a skilled professional who:

• is a successful leader within Secondary education

• has the vision, knowledge, experience and leadership skills to support the Headteacher in leading our school forward and build on existing strengths

• is a strategic thinker who will work closely and effectively with the whole school

• has a track record of successful, impactful leadership at whole school level

• has up-to-date knowledge of what makes excellent learning and teaching, together with curriculum and assessment

• has the personality to inspire and motivate students and staff

• is a professional with effective management and interpersonal skills

• will be approachable, with excellent communication skills

• will embrace and develop the school’s relationships with the community

• is committed to their own and whole school professional development

• has high standards and expectations – ensuring every child receives the best education in an equitable environment that looks after every single learner

The closing date for this post is midday on 3rd May 2024.

Shortlisting will take place on 8th May 2024. Interviews will be held over two days, the date will be confirmed following shortlisting. Candidates will be informed if they are to proceed to the Governing Body interview on Day 2. The successful candidate will be required to commence in September 2024
