About the Role:
Coleg y Cymoedd is a values-based college with the purpose of transforming lives through learning. Since 2021 we have seen a 26% increase in the number of 16-18 yr olds attending our college, so we are now expanding our curriculum teams to be able to support all our learners to achieve their full potential.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our strong team of Heads of School. Our leaders are authentic, people-centred and empowered. We are looking for aspiring or existing leaders, who align to our values, to work in one of our new curriculum areas. We adopt a coaching approach across our college, so as a new leader with us, you will be supported to settle into your new role and encouraged to stretch yourself through continuous professional development opportunities.
Our Heads of School work across all four campuses (Aberdare, Nantgarw, Rhondda and Ystrad Mynach).
We recognise that is not always necessary to be an expert in the curriculum area you manage, as there are many different skills needed to lead a team operationally and strategically. Below is a brief outline of the three positions. Please make it clear in your further information section which position(s) you are applying for and why you feel your management skills are best matched to that area.
Position 1 – Head of School Independent Living Skills (ILS)
Independent Living Skills (ILS) focuses on providing learners with the necessary skills to live independently and confidently. The ILS curriculum is designed to support learners with additional learning needs, helping them to develop practical, social, and employability skills. Previously this school was part of the Vocational Access team.
Position 2 – Head of School Building Services
This new school will include plumbing and electrical from Level 1 to Progression as well as some Level 3 Building Services courses. Previously this school was part of a wider Construction team. The Head of School for this area will work closely with the Head of School Construction Trades.
Position 3 – Head of School Computing, Business and Finance
This school combines two current curriculum areas. The computing team deliver qualifications from Level 1 to Higher Education courses. The business team deliver qualifications from Level 1 to Level 3.
We look forward to receiving your applications and welcoming the successful candidates to our college in the near future.
