The Echelford Primary School is a three form entry school taking 3 classes per year group from Reception (aged 4-5yrs) all the way up to Year 6 (aged 10-11yrs). This makes Echelford one of the larger schools in Spelthorne however despite its size, we pride ourselves in maintaining a family feel where everyone knows each other.
Echelford is set on a spacious, well-equipped site with two playgrounds, an Early Years outside learning area and garden and a pond. There is a large field where the children are able to enjoy the use of our own Forest School adventure playground, trim trail and football and athletics pitch. We have two large external canopies, a reading shelter and a gazebo as well as three large internal halls for sports, dining and assemblies.
Echelford is approximately 20 mins walk from Ashford High Street and serves the local community and beyond with many children coming from other Spelthorne and Hounslow communities.

In Autumn 2013, we were delighted to become part of the Lumen Learning Trust with Saxon Primary taking on the role of our sponsoring school. Since then we have been joined by Riverbridge Primary in Staines upon Thames, Walton Oak Primary in Walton upon Thames, Darley Dene in Addlestone and Ewell Grove Primary School in Epsom.
The drivers for change which enabled Saxon to become a centre of excellence for Shepperton are those that underpin Echelford’s developments too. The starting point for Echelford’s learning environment is the child and we work hard to ‘craft’ the provision around their individual needs. In this way we can be confident that we are ensuring the right opportunities are made available to enable every child to excel and genuinely achieve their full potential.
We have accredited Specialist Leaders of Education on our teaching team and our Executive Principal, Mary Ellen McCarthy carries out extensive support for school leadership teams in Surrey schools and beyond. She is also a serving Ofsted inspector.
