Located in the Westlands, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Edenhurst Preparatory School is a co-educational independent day school for pupils from age 3 months to 11 years.
The school was founded in 1961 with just a handful of pupils. Since then, the school has flourished and developed to the point where there are now around two hundred boys and girls, aged between three months and eleven years, a significant number of whom are children of former pupils. The school continues to enhance its already excellent reputation in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire and the surrounding areas of South Cheshire and Shropshire.
As a day, co-ed, independent Prep School we successfully prepare children for examinations to their chosen senior independent school and whilst the academic element of each child's education is a priority in our planning, we also provide a first class education in social, personal, physical, creative and moral skills.
Ultimately our aim is to INSPIRE our pupils: with innovative delivery of lessons by enthusiastic teachers with specialist knowledge using the latest ICT technologies across a broad curriculum.
We NURTURE our pupils: in small class groups to develop their individual talents and gifts; to look after their personal needs; and to care for their welfare.
As a result, our pupils ACHIEVE: excellent results in the classroom, on the sports field, in music, drama, dance and a wide range of extra curricular activities.
Here at Edenhurst, we have created an environment where pupils can make the most of their talents with the benefit of individual attention. The School is made up of the Nursery, Prep Prep and Prep.
The School was established in 1961 by the Copestick family, and over the decades has continued to evolve into a nurturing, family-orientated and academically excellent school. In our latest ISI inspection (March 2017) we were awarded the grade of “EXCELLENT” in all areas. This is the highest grade a school can be awarded under the ISI Inspection scheme.
At Edenhurst we benefit from small class sizes, which enables us to offer a more personalised approach to learning, and allows each child's individual strengths to be nurtured. Furthermore, we are committed to educating the ‘whole child’; our strong pastoral care system incorporates a structured Personal, Social and Health Education programme, including the School’s Core Values of Courtesy, Honesty, Respect, and Endeavour.
Children continue to achieve excellent 11+ results at Edenhurst. This year we once again achieved 100% success in getting Year 6 pupils into the senior schools of their choosing and 37% were awarded scholarships to notable Independent Schools.

Edenhurst Preparatory School is part of Bellevue Education
Bellevue Education is committed to excellence in education. Each Bellevue school is run independently but shares the same values: we believe in broad curricula delivered in innovative ways that excite and engage children; we believe in investment – in teachers, buildings and technology; and we believe that exceptional results should be a by-product of the education that we offer, not the exclusive focus.
We recruit the best teachers and head teachers and make sure that they are fully supported with innovative resources, shared best practice and focused training. We involve parents in their children’s education with not only regular meetings and written reports, but also with head teacher blogs, social media and parent workshops. Most importantly, we treat every child as an individual with their own unique set of talents.
Bellevue pupils are encouraged to aim high, and we provide them with everything they need to succeed.
