Somerdale Educate Together Primary Academy is looking for an enthusiastic and creative playworker to promote and support play and positive interaction throughout the school day. 

Somerdale Educate Together Primary is a one-form entry school, part of an Academy Trust that also has schools in Redfield, Bath and Weston-Super-Mare. The Trust was established in 2014 and places inclusion at the heart of its thinking and seeks to ensure in its mission statement, that that ‘no child is an outsider’.   

We are looking for a playworker who can: 

  • help children play positively, creatively and supportively  
  • Help the children to play safely enabling them to assess and minimise risk 
  • Support the children to behave according to our values and ethos and challenge any discriminatory or hurtful language or behaviour 
  • Help the children explain their feelings and resolve conflict constructively 
  • Encourage and enable children to lead play activities with other children and take an active role in the organisation and structure of play times 
  • Help ensure playtimes are inclusive and enjoyable for everyone, providing additional support to those children who need it  
  • To help provide a play environment in which children are safe but also able to talk appropriate risks to fully enjoy their play  
  • Support interventions in the afternoon.

The hours of work are Monday - Friday 11:30-5:45 Term Time only (28.75 hours per week).  The actual salary for these hours is £12,174.
