EYFS Reception Maternity Cover
We are looking for a talented full time Reception teacher for a maternity cover from September 2025 to August 2026. We are a small and thriving one-form entry primary school, situated in Byfleet, a stone throw from Byfleet & New Haw train station.
Our children are polite and eager to learn, and we are supported by a welcoming community of staff, parents and governors working together. As a small school, the staff are a close-knit team, who collaborate at all levels and ‘get stuck in’ to ensure our children have the best possibilities available to them.
We would like to recruit a highly skilled, creative and forward-thinking practitioner to join our Byfleet Primary family, to nurture and inspire our children, by bringing their big ideas and sharing their early years passion, as we continue on our journey of improvements in our reception class. As a one-form, you will have the opportunity to work in a small team.

- is keen to further transform our continuous provision and outdoor learning areas
- understands the importance of our ‘no time wasted’ ethos to priorities early reading, writing and maths in the early years
- is organised, works well with their time and meets deadlines
- can make learning exciting and plan lessons that inspire our children, whilst retaining the rigour of the basic skills
- plans creative lessons to ensure all curriculum areas accessed in an engaging manner
- seeks opportunities to make the children's experience of school memorable and worthwhile
- has a track record of improving standards over time
- is a leader, self-directed, highly motivated and willing to try new ideas
- is prepared to manage a foundation subject during this maternity leave
