Elmhurst School for Boys is located in South Croydon and caters for boys aged three to eleven.

The combination of our broad and balanced curriculum, along with our preparation for 11+ entrance exams, ensures each boy achieves their full potential.

Elmhurst School for Boys identifies, nurtures and celebrates the talents of each and every boy, in an inspiring environment which blends innovation with tradition and successfully equips boys with the skills they need to excel in the 21st Century.

About Us

Elmhurst caters for boys aged 4 - 11 and concentrates on raising individual levels of attainment to the extent that boys will have the best possible chance of doing themselves justice in competitive entrance examinations at the age of eleven.

Considerable success has been achieved over a long period of time in obtaining places at notable Independent Schools. The majority of boys go on to Whitgift, Trinity or Dulwich College. Other schools at which boys have gained places include Alleyns, Caterham, Emmanuel, Reigate Grammar, Royal Russell, St. Dunstans, Wilson's and Wallington. A minority of boys leave Elmhurst to enter boarding school education.

Elmhurst aims to provide an environment in which a boy can develop not only his mental and physical abilities, but also appreciate the value of good manners, honesty and consideration for others.

The curriculum is wide and provides as many opportunities as possible for each boy to discover his own particular talents, strengths and weaknesses so that he will grow and develop as an individual capable of making his own decisions.

The atmosphere in the school is based on respect and politeness within a disciplined framework, which provides security, whilst at the same time being happy and friendly. In this situation there is ample scope for each boy to develop his personality and realise his potential to the full so that he may eventually be able to take his place as a useful member of our society.

Most boys come to the school as a result of personal recommendations and several are the sons of former pupils.

Part of Bellevue Education...

Elmhurst School for Boys is part of Bellevue Education

Bellevue Education is committed to excellence in education. Each Bellevue school is run independently but shares the same values: we believe in broad curricula delivered in innovative ways that excite and engage children; we believe in investment – in teachers, buildings and technology; and we believe that exceptional results should be a by-product of the education that we offer, not the exclusive focus.

We recruit the best teachers and head teachers and make sure that they are fully supported with innovative resources, shared best practice and focused training. We involve parents in their children’s education with not only regular meetings and written reports, but also with head teacher blogs, social media and parent workshops. Most importantly, we treat every child as an individual with their own unique set of talents.

Bellevue pupils are encouraged to aim high, and we provide them with everything they need to succeed.
