The Governors and Headteacher of Staple Hill Primary School are seeking an exceptional SENCo to work in school.

The SENCo will play a key role in the leadership and management of the school with particular reference to specified aspects of the school’s development plan as determined by the Headteacher. Under the coordination of the Senior Leadership Team to specifically lead on all aspects of inclusive practice within the school.

This role is 2 days a week. The role includes taking responsibility for all SEND learners, ensuring fully inclusive provision and support for learners, securing effective teaching, successful learning and promoting high levels of achievement and self-esteem for pupils, irrespective of background, ethnicity, gender or disability.

The successful candidate will:

o Hold the SENDCO accreditation or be willing to complete the SEND NPQ, joining the next available cohort

o Be motivated to make a real difference to the lives of our most vulnerable learners. Have excellent subject knowledge and understanding of the curriculum

o Have excellent subject knowledge and understanding of the curriculum which allows them to provide guidance to ensure all children are included and succeed Share a positive vision of children’s education and development

o Have excellent organisational skills and be able to lead a team of highly motivated teaching assistants who form our Inclusion team

o Champion our vulnerable pupils and work hard to ensure they achieve and experience the same curriculum entitlement

o Have experience of supporting SEND pupils to make progress from their start points, including understanding key transition points

o Form positive relationships with all stakeholders and have a passion to include families in their child’s learning journey and provide support

o Be a strong communicator, able to liaise with outside agencies confidently

Fluency Duty 

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to converse at ease with pupils, parents and other users and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
