Your Role
Exeter House School is an all-through education provision for children and young people aged 4–19 with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs. We are a supportive, nurturing community, rated Good by Ofsted in June 2023.

Hours: 32.5 hours per week

The role
You’ll plan, deliver and review learning that reflects pupils’ individual needs, helping them develop their communication, confidence and independence. You’ll lead and support a team of classroom assistants, work closely with families and professionals, and contribute to the wider development of the school.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering inclusive, multi-sensory learning activities and individual programmes.
- Supporting pupils’ learning, communication, behaviour and safety.
- Assessing progress, maintaining effective records and contributing to EHCP reviews.
- Leading and deploying classroom assistants, and supporting colleagues’ development.
- Building constructive partnerships with parents and sharing information about pupils’ progress.
- Contributing to staff training, pastoral work, school development and a subject specialism.
- Promoting the school’s vision, values, British values and commitment to safeguarding.
We’d love to hear from you if
- You’re an exceptional practitioner with a background in Special, Early Years or Primary Education and a passion for SEND.
- You can inspire and motivate pupils to reach their potential.
- You’re an Early Career Teacher or an experienced teacher, with enthusiasm for teaching in SEND.
- You enjoy working collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, families and leaders.
- You’re looking to develop your career as part of a supportive and experienced team.
- You’ll need Qualified Teacher Status and experience teaching pupils with SEND. Please read the job description and person specification for the full requirements, including essential qualifications. Successful candidates will be asked to provide evidence of their qualifications.
- Experience or knowledge of autism, communication approaches such as PECS, Signalong or Intensive Interaction, TEACCH, sensory processing needs or Early Years would be an advantage.
