We are seeking an organised, enthusiastic and motivated person to assist the Head of Higher Education and the Academic Registrar in supporting students to succeed and progress. The role will involve providing a support service for disadvantaged Higher Education Students, this includes monitoring and providing advice, guidance and support for students with a disability, care leavers, students from low participation neighborhoods, students from low-income families and those from ethnic minorities to ensure that they reach their full potential.
You will advise on the availability of bursaries and assist students in applying for disability support, internships or volunteering roles. You will monitor attendance and success and offer support where necessary. You will organise a programme of activities to support disadvantaged and underrepresented groups.
Ideally applicants will have worked in assisting students with learning difficulties in the past with experience of working in Higher Education; an understanding of Disabled Student Allowances; good communication skills; an interest in helping disadvantaged HE students to succeed and progress to good jobs or post graduate study. An awareness of career progression and development opportunities would also help.
