SEN Teaching Assistant
Start Date: Monday 14th February 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter
Contract: Part time – Named Pupil Contract - 17 hours a week, Monday to Friday 8.45 – 12 noon daily & Wednesday 1.00 – 3.00pm - term time only
Pay scale: Grade D Point 4 – 6 £18,933 to £19,698 p/a pro rata
We are looking to recruit a caring and committed SEN teaching assistant to support a child in Year 3.
We place a high value on children’s emotional well-being and we are looking for someone who shares our vision that children need to be emotionally happy to be able to achieve highly. We work therapeutically with our children in enabling them to achieve this. We are looking for someone who can help children achieve independence in their learning, be creative and imaginative in addition to being kind and patient, and have a love of the outdoors.
Experience of working with children with additional needs is essential for this post; the successful applicant will need to:
- have a knowledge of ASD and anxiety,
- be able to hold firm boundaries,
- be resilient and have a sense of humour.
The role is dependent on individual pupil funding and will continue until such time as the funding ceases and/or the child leaves the school; we anticipate this role will cease in August 2025. The hours for this post are to be worked over 5 days and are organised to complement the existing support available in the team.
You will be joining a supportive and caring team who are part of the Fitzmaurice family. Everyone in the Fitz family is a vital member of the team who brings their own special quality; we enjoy a laugh so a sense of humour along with the ability to be patient is essential!
