Bedminster Down School is looking for a rigorous and pragmatic person to join our behaviour team as the Behaviour Manager. Behaviour expectations at Bedminster Down School are high and our behaviour team thrives on supporting young people to flourish. Bedminster Down School is rated as good by Ofsted and our large support staff team play a vital role in ensuring that the wider needs of our students are catered for as effectively as possible.
As the Behaviour Manager you will lead the behaviour team and ensure that the standards we expect are consistently maintained at all times across the school. You will be highly visible to students and staff throughout the school day, ensuring that students are treating each other and the school site with respect and getting the very most out of their lessons. Staff and students will look to you to ensure standards are maintained across the whole school and will expect you to use your skills to diffuse challenging situations. Your team will look to you for clear direction and ongoing support and will need you to make difficult decisions quickly to allow them to succeed. The ideal candidate will therefore be confident in asserting themselves as an authority figure with students, alongside the people skills to lead a team and ensure that every member of that team continues to develop.
In addition to playing a vital role around the school site, our Behaviour Support Team also support in our Referral Room – a behaviour room with exceptionally high behavioural standards – as well as delivering interventions to improve the behaviour of students. As the behaviour manager, you will be responsible for managing the function of the referral room and will monitor the efficacy of the interventions completed by all behaviour staff, ensuring that our programmes of support for students are always delivering the very best for the young people we serve.
We operate a ‘Ready to Learn’ behaviour system in the school which we have refined and adapted over many years. Our consistent approach to behaviour management across the school ensures that any low-level disruption is dealt with rapidly and effectively. We believe in a collaborative approach to managing behaviour and all staff play their part, with the full support of the senior team.
