Cover and Interventions Teacher

Start: ASAP

Salary: MPR1 – MPR6

Location: Bedminster Down School (near Bristol)

Contract: Full time

Term: Permanent

Bedminster Down School is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic teacher to take on a unique roll which will have a huge impact on the progress of our students. As an Interventions and Cover Teacher you will take on two vital and distinct roles in our school, meaning that the ideal candidate for the post will be flexible, excited by a job with varied responsibilities and will have a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Your interventions role will involve working 1-2-1, with small groups, or within classrooms, to help fill gaps in students’ learning and key skills. You will be given clear direction on the specific support that your groups of students need, following high quality diagnostic assessments. You will help these students to catch up with their peers, assess their progress and liaise regularly with their classroom teachers to ensure that your combined approach is having the greatest possible impact on their learning. Our focus, in the main, will be working with our young people in their core subjects. For this reason, an ability to teach maths, English or science at key stage 4 would be an advantage, but is not essential.

We firmly believe that, in the case of staff absence, our students still deserve high-quality, directed lessons which allow them to sustain their progress. For that reason, we are aiming to ensure that cover is delivered by excellent teachers that students know, who understand and consistently apply the systems in place across the school. The cover aspect of this role is therefore central to our ethos of providing a high-quality education for all. As a permanent member of the teaching staff at Bedminster Down School, you will also join a curriculum team, playing a full and active part in the CPD and curriculum development work in that area. You will therefore be ably prepared to take on a full or part time teaching roll in the future, should you wish to.

In return we offer:

  • A competitive salary
  • A full and varied training programme offering development for our staff
  • An opportunity to work in a supportive team from whom you can learn, develop and grow
  • Wider opportunities to be involved across the Futura Learning Partnership
  • An energised and professional working environment
  • Benefits include; pension scheme, discounted sports centre/gym membership, free wellbeing support & medical cover, free on-site parking and cycle to work scheme.

We are keen to ensure that you have as much information to proceed with your application as possible, so if you would like a conversation about either the academy or the position please contact Matt Eagon (Vice Principal) by E-Mail.  Contact details can be located within the 'Apply Now' section; please log in or register to view.

Futura Learning Partnership is a partnership of schools which span the Bristol - Keynsham - Bath area that are working together to provide a high-quality educational experience for all students in their care and be a truly inclusive provider of 4-19 education in the area.

The closing date for applications is: 23:59 on 04/12/2022.

Interviews are likely to be held on Thursday 8th December and/or Friday 9th December.
