Bedminster Down School is looking for an excellent teacher to join our science team on a full time basis. The school is rated as good by Ofsted and we are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic science teacher to help us support every one of our students to make the very best progress that they can. The successful candidate will be joining a friendly team, with a wealth of experience, which is always looking to improve. You will teach across the ability range, delivering science lessons to students in both KS3 and KS4.
Our science curriculum is rooted in high expectations of all students, with a focus on the development and consistent embedding of the core knowledge that makes students high quality scientists. In KS4 all students, regardless of ability, have the option to choose to study separate sciences and, such is the popularity of science in the school, approximately a third of the cohort chooses to do so. We work closely with the other Futura secondary schools to develop our shared curriculum, to share the best resources and to identify the best teaching practice and share this pedagogical knowledge between schools. We have a strong belief in the power of high-quality teaching and learning to change the lives of our students and we have developed highly effective lesson structures and pedagogical approaches which drive progress in every lesson.
At Bedminster Down School, we operate a ‘Ready to Learn’ behaviour system in the school and classroom behaviour is truly exceptional. Our consistent approach to behaviour management across the school ensures that any low-level disruption is dealt with rapidly and effectively. Our senior and pastoral teams manage the rare incidents of highly challenging behaviour and permanently staff the behaviour support rooms. This means that, as a teacher at Bedminster Down School, you have the ability to spend your work time on planning and delivering lessons which will maximize engagement and progress, as well as providing high quality feedback to your students.
In return we offer:
- A competitive salary
- A full and varied CPD programme offering teaching and leadership development for our staff
