Location: Bedminster Down School (near Bristol)

Contract: 37 hours per week. Term time only, plus two inset days.

Bedminster Down School is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join a dynamic Special Educational Needs Team that thrives on supporting young people. Bedminster Down School is rated as good by Ofsted and our large support staff team play a vital role in ensuring that the wider needs of our students are catered for as effectively as possible.

As a Teaching Assistant you will provide support to students in school with Special Educational Needs. You will work one-to-one and with small groups of students, helping them to regulate their emotions, to engage effectively with the school curriculum and to make great academic progress. Your work will take place both inside and outside of lessons. You will also work closely with the teaching staff in the school, helping them to support the students you work with in their lessons, and the other support staff teams who will be working with your students on their wider needs, including the attendance, behaviour and pastoral teams.

The ideal candidate for this post will have a keen interest in working with young people and may have experience of supporting students with Special Educational Needs from previous employment. Most of all though, you will be patient, caring and have a ‘can-do’ attitude. You will be provided with a range of support and training, including any necessary qualifications, to ensure you can fulfil the duties of the post well.
