Pimlico Academy is proud to be part of Future Academies. Our motto, libertas per cultum (‘freedom through education’), is the clearest distillation of our vision for education. We have an absolute belief in the power of education to empower individuals, to transform lives and to shape a better world. We believe that having access to a first-rate knowledge-rich curriculum, supported by a comprehensive co-curriculum, is a prerequisite to developing understanding, cultural literacy, good character and, ultimately, wisdom.
Pimlico Academy is a high-achieving school and is well-positioned for next phase of its journey. The school’s Progress 8 score is consistently ‘well above average’, it has a strong reputation in the local area and it is regularly oversubscribed in Year 7. The school works in collaboration with Future Academies’ Curriculum Centre (led by Lady Nash), where a team of subject-specialists and researchers continually develop and rework curriculum resources, using evidence from the best practice in our schools as well as the latest in pedagogical and cognitive research. We have a thriving Sixth Form, from which students routinely graduate to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. We have an extensive co-curricular programme, a talented music department and a heritage of impressive school productions. For an inner London comprehensive school, our facilities are second to none. The principal’s ambition, shared with the CEO and sponsors, is that Pimlico Academy becomes one of the best schools in England – a beacon of educational excellence. For our new vice principals, it will be a career-defining role.
The successful candidates will lead with confidence and conviction, and will be passionate about the power of education to transform lives. They will demonstrate impeccable professionalism, unwavering determination and relentless optimism. They will lead by example and be a source of inspiration, support and guidance to colleagues. They will have the highest expectations of every student, in terms of achievement, character and conduct. They will love their subject and cultivate a similar passion in their students.
Two positions are currently available - Vice Principal (Academic) and Vice Principal (Pastoral). Applicants should specify whether they are applying specifically to one role, or whether they would like to be considered for both positions.
The principal of Pimlico Academy, Mr Daniel Smith, is happy to discuss the role informally on the telephone with prospective candidates. Visits to the academy are also welcomed. When requesting further details and an application form (details and email address can be found in the attached application pack), please state whether you would like to discuss the role further with Mr Daniel Smith.
