This rare opportunity is a great part time position providing practical support to the teacher and 11-16 yrs students studying Food Technology and Hospitality & Catering. You will be responsible for ordering ingredients, preparing food, ensuring the kitchen equipment is prepared ready for lessons as required. You will support students during practical lessons and ensure throughout clear down at the end of sessions. This appointment will be a permanent contract for 10 hours per week, term time only. The role must be completed during the school day however the actual working pattern can be agreed at interview. The actual starting salary will be £5,209 with a full time equivalent of £21,800.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone experienced in catering or food technology to provide practical support within the Food Technology Department. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with and support young people in their learning and development; have a background of working within the food industry, understand food hygiene and will be well organised. In this varied role, you will have the opportunity to offer practical support working with small groups of students in Food Technology practical lessons, balanced with the opportunity to work alone during periods of preparation. You will have the know how to carry out cleaning and servicing of kitchen equipment in the department to ensure safety and reliability. You will be responsible for maintaining the good order and organisation of the fridges and storage facilities; and manage ordering and stock levels of food items, equipment and resources. There may also be scope to support within the Textiles department and such an opportunity can be discussed further at interview stage.
