We are looking for committed individuals from the communities surrounding our schools, and from all walks of life and backgrounds to join our Schools Standards Boards. We are looking for those who can share their viewpoints, experience, expertise, skills and fresh ideas to enhance the opportunities for our children and families within the community.   

Your opportunity

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to join one our School Standards Boards (SSB) across the GLF Trust for a four year period. As an SSB member, you will contribute to and monitor school’s development plans, which is focus on the key improvement priorities for each school. SSBs are also the Trust Board’s interface with key stakeholders: parents, staff and the community. You will be involved in gathering and responding to feedback from parents and staff, and developing and maintaining community links.   

SSB members provide regular feedback to the Trust Board on performance and feedback from stakeholders, contributing to the overall improvement of the Trust. SSBs also have the opportunity to influence the strategy of the Trust as a whole.

Excellent training and support is provided and you don't need education experience.  

GLF Schools comprises 41 schools over 5 regions and 7 LA's with 34 primaries and 7 secondaries. Each region has access to a regional team that support our schools financially, operationally and with all HR/people matters. We would welcome applications from candidates located in any of our 3 regions, listed below: 

West and Oxfordshire - Camberley, Sunbury, Wokingham, Lightwater, Banbury, Didcot

Central - West Ewell, Cheam, Banstead, Epsom

South East - Wandsworth, Croydon, Caterham, Merstham, Salfords, Crawley, Horsham

We are looking for individuals who:

  • think strategically, and is able to contribute to the development of the schools priorities,
  • are able to listen, reflect and learn from a range of viewpoints
  • are able to establish clear expectations for school leaders
  • have the ability to analyse and interpret data and statistics
  • have the confidence to ask questions and challenge school leaders in an appropriate way

Being a member of the School Standards Board is a rewarding one, where you will gain insight into the workings of our schools and play a part in improving outcomes for every pupil. Our vision is that we will instil aspiration and high expectations to empower every child to become a successful citizen of the world through excellence in all that we do. Everything the SSB do has a role to play to make our vision a reality for pupils.

The Details

Being a member of the SSB does require time commitment. SSB's meet formally once per half term (6 meetings across the academic year) and follow an annual work plan. You are also required to attend training and undertake school visits relevant to your areas of responsibility. While being a member of the SSB is a voluntary role, you will be able to claim for travel expenses if needed.

Although this role is voluntary, our SSB members are priceless to us at GLF Schools.
