Overview:
The Evening Cleaner role is a vital addition to the Gloucester Academy team.
As a site cleaner you will work with colleagues, to improve the quality of the education and working environment for students, visitors and employees.
The duties and responsibilities in this job description are not restrictive and the post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that may be required from time to time. Any such duties should not however substantially change the general character of the post.
Job Purpose:
To undertake, as part of a team and individually, duties in support of the cleaning of the school premises to ensure that they are kept in a clean and hygienic condition.
Main Duties / Responsibilities:
- To be responsible for cleaning certain parts of the school site as allocated by the Site Manager (this will vary from time to time).
- To use cleaning materials as instructed by the Site Manager. Ensure all containers of cleaning agents are correctly labelled before use and are used safely and in compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and that all chemicals are securely stored away when not in use.
- To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, e.g. vacuum cleaners and polishers.
- Cleaning.
- Spot cleaning of spillages.
- Washing of floors, walls, etc.
- Sweeping.
- Vacuum cleaning.
- Emptying of litter bins.
- Polishing and dusting of the designated areas (which may include toilets and shower area) the fixtures and fitting using, where appropriate, powered equipment.
- Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polishing door glass.
- Cleaning toilets including sanitary fittings and surrounds.
- Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces.
- Wiping and polishing and straightening furniture.
- All defects/hazards must be immediately reported to the Cleaning supervisor or Site Manager.
- To ensure that Health and Safety regulations are adhered to at all times.
- To ensure that safe working practices are applied at all times.
Cleaners will be required to work in any part of the establishment; using safe working practices at all times. Ensure correct policy and procedures are maintained including Health and Safety COSHH, Manual Handling etc. Cleaning duties may vary between term and closure periods.
