Facilities Operative / Caretaker

The role:

The Facilities Operative will carry out general maintenance and temporary repairs to property, fixtures and fittings and to ensure the security of the premises, together with its contents. You will be expected to work flexibly across all of the College campuses and with working shift patterns. The Facilities Operative will be required to attend in cases of emergency call-outs e.g. flood, fire, intruders and take such action as required (e.g. marshalling etc).

  • £12.51 - £13.62 per hour
  • Across all campuses (Tycoch, Gorseinon, Sketty Hall, Jubilee Court, Kingsway and Llwyn y Bryn)
  • You will have no fixed working hours, and will work on an ad hoc basis, providing sickness/temporary cover
  • The shift pattern will include evenings, weekends and shifts between the hours of 6:00am and 10:00pm
  • You will also be required to participate in the on-call rota, please note you will receive additional remuneration to be on stand-by and for call-outs.
  • You will be paid a month in arrears e.g. any hours that you work in May, will be paid in June, and so forth.

About you:

  • With previous experience in a similar role you will ideally possess an NVQ Level 3 in a relevant craft and hold or be willing to work towards First Aid and IOSH qualifications
  • You will have up to date knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety procedures, including manual handling, be able to negotiate heights and confined spaces
  • The ability to travel to the various College sites is essential
