The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Gower College Swansea for two dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our teams on a part-time, fixed-term basis, supporting students in their academic journey.

There are three positions available. Please state in your Personal Statement which vacancy/vacancies you are interested in.

Vacancy A - Maternity cover

  • Part-time (25 - 30 hours per week across 4 days)
  • Term-time (36 weeks per annum)
  • Fixed term until 30th January 2026
  • Based on 25 hours per week, the salary would be £13,329 - £13,613 per annum
  • Tycoch Campus

Vacancy B

  • Part-time (30 hours per week across 5 days)
  • Term-time (36 weeks per annum)
  • Fixed term until 31st August 2026
  • £15,994 - £16,335 per annum
  • Jubilee Court Campus (Fforestfach)

Vacancy C

  • Part-time (25 - 30 hours per week across 4 days)
  • Term-time (36 weeks per annum)
  • Fixed term until 31st August 2026
  • Based on 25 hours per week, the salary would be £13,329 - £13,613 per annum
  • Gorseinon Campus

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide one-to-one or small group support under lecturer direction as appropriate in the classroom setting.
  • To assist with the development of learners’ literacy and numeracy skills.
  • To assist with the pastoral care needs of learners and to direct learners to other college support mechanisms as necessary.
  • To provide learners with help in understanding oral and written instruction.
  • To assist with the co-ordination of learners’ work, record keeping and progress through liaison with lecturing and support staff at all levels within the College.

About you:

  • Maths and English GCSEs: A - C Grade or equivalent
  • Experience of working with young people in a similar job role
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of students with additional learning needs/learning difficulties
  • Confident, resilient, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
