Are you ready for a new professional opportunity? Do you want to be part of a friendly and supportive academy where the professional development of all staff is given a very high priority?
We require a highly effective Curriculum Leader of Mathematics, whose practice is instrumental in ensuring that pupils, of all ages and abilities, achieve consistently strong outcomes.
Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018. The Academy is heavily oversubscribed in years 7, 8 and 9 and our first cohort of Year 12 students formed our new Sixth Form in September 2019. We now have five groups of A-level Mathematics/Further Mathematics. The foundations we have laid in Maths are excellent; our team of six experienced staff ensure students enjoy their learning, and the progress made by our students is excellent.
This exciting opportunity has arisen due to the promotion of the current postholder. You will be an outstanding Mathematics teacher, who has the qualities to lead colleagues, securing the highest possible standards in teaching and learning. You will have the ability teach at all levels from years 7 to 13 and be driven to ensure that students receive the best possible experience of the subject by bringing creative ideas to the classroom. We provide many enrichment opportunities based around our STEM agenda to inspire and motivate scientists and engineers for the future.
We offer:
An ambitious leadership team with a clear vision for the Academy.
Students with a desire to achieve.
Great facilities and a well-resourced department
A friendly and supportive staff who are always happy to help each other and share good practice
Strong support from SLT
A strong CPD programme and the opportunity to deliver as well as receive training
Access to a middle leader development programme
Excellent career opportunities and progression, particularly as the school grows
The opportunity to be part of a successful 11-18 provision
Our objective is to be a flagship Academy where every pupil not only achieves their full potential but also feels an integral part of the organisation; an Academy where no child is left behind; an Academy where the bonds between parent, teacher and child are so secure that failure is not an option. The unique community that we have built ensures that young people achieve their ambition in a caring environment where they are the centre of all that we do.
Further details are available on the Academy website and in the information documents attached. Informal conversations with the Principal, Graham Davis, are available prior to application; please contact Gill Edwards or email to arrange this.
Applications should be submitted electronically by 4pm on Monday 30th November. Interviews will take place during the week beginning 7th December. Start Date: Easter or September 2021
