Are you ready for a new professional opportunity? Do you want to be part of a friendly and supportive growing academy which sets exceptional standards and where the professional development of all staff is given a very high priority?

Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018. The Academy is heavily oversubscribed in years 7, 8 and 9 and our first cohort of Year 12 students formed our new Sixth Form in September 2019. This includes students studying Business Studies and Computing at A-level.

We require a highly effective Head of Business and Computing to further develop our work in these areas, including leading the start of our GCSE courses in September 2021 and looking to widen our post-16 provision in Business and Computing as the Sixth Form grows. Your practice will be instrumental in ensuring that pupils, of all ages and abilities, achieve consistently strong outcomes. You will be an outstanding teacher of Business, Economics or Computing, who has the qualities to lead colleagues in each of these areas, securing the highest possible standards in teaching and learning. You will have the ability teach at all levels from years 7 to 13 and be driven to ensure that students receive the best possible experience of the subject by bringing creative ideas to the classroom.

We offer:

An ambitious leadership team with a clear vision for the Academy.

Students with a desire to achieve.

Great facilities and a well-resourced department, including individual laptops for each student

A friendly and supportive staff who are always happy to help each other and share good practice

Strong support from SLT

A strong CPD programme and the opportunity to deliver as well as receive training

Access to a middle leader development programme

Excellent career opportunities and progression, particularly as the school grows to capacity

The opportunity to be part of a successful 11-18 provision

Our objective is to be a flagship Academy where every pupil not only achieves their full potential but also feels an integral part of the organisation; an Academy where no child is left behind; an Academy where the bonds between parent, teacher and child are so secure that failure is not an option. The unique community that we have built ensures that young people achieve their ambition in a caring environment where they are the centre of all that we do.

Further details are available on the Academy website and in the information documents attached. Informal conversations with the Principal, Graham Davis, are available prior to application; please email Gill Edwards to arrange this.

Applications should be submitted electronically by 9am on Monday 8th March. Interviews will take place shortly after this.

Safeguarding Statement:

Great Western Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
