We require an enthusiastic, dedicated person to join our student support team as a Pastoral Intervention Leader. Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018. The Academy is heavily oversubscribed in all years and has a flourishing sixth form to match.
Pastoral Intervention Leaders provide the pastoral support to students ensuring their well-being needs are cared for and in turn this supports their academic progress. Working in partnership with all other departments you will ensure the ‘Care’ element of our values of Achievement, Care and Excellence is put into practice to the benefit of all students. Day-to-day tasks will include monitoring of attendance and the effectiveness of our rewards and behaviour policies and being a point of contact for students. More strategically the role will include planning of interventions to support progress and monitoring their effectiveness, and promotion of House competitions and activities.
The successful candidate will have a real drive for helping students to achieve more than they ever felt possible. Experience and enjoyment of working with young people or with agencies which support them would be an asset to an application.
Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of every student who attends. We use our brand-new building and state-of-the-art facilities to help achieve this, but it is the team of staff who turn our vision into reality. If you have the proven ability to contribute to our inclusive approach in the classroom and beyond then we would be delighted to hear from you.
Additional benefits of working at GWA include:
