Are you a teacher of Law, looking for part-time work? If so, we have a tremendous opportunity for you here at Great Western Academy!

The successful applicant will ideally have experience in teaching Law in either a school or post-16 setting. Flexible working arrangements will be considered. Applicants should indicate their preferences clearly when applying.

Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018. We believe we provide an exceptional education, instilling in students a humble confidence that will see them thrive beyond the school. Four years of strong A-level results and destinations back this up, including four successful Oxbridge applicants and a huge variety of other university and apprenticeship success. Our first two years of GCSE results show fantastic progress for students, whatever their starting points. Ofsted judged the school as ‘Good’ in January 2023.

We have created a climate in humanities and social sciences where our students are inquisitive, ambitious learners who have the desire to fully explore the diversity our curriculum has to offer, already achieving excellent outcomes. Demand for Law A Level is strong, with healthy current year 12 and 13 classes. At Great Western Academy students study A Level Law under the Eduqas Specification offering students the opportunity to study areas of law including The English Legal System, Criminal Law, Tort and Contact Law. Within the faculty students also study Sociology, Psychology, Politics, Criminology, History, Geography and Philosophy and Religion. The faculty is renowned for its stable staffing and strong teaching, and the successful applicant will be thoroughly supported to ensure they enjoy and be equally successful in post.

The successful candidate will also have the chance to contribute once a week to our enrichment program which runs for students in years 7 and 8 from 3.10 to 4.15pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This provides opportunities to work with students in an area of your own interest to broaden and deepen their range of experiences at school or support and guide them in their self-study.

Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of every student who attends. Our brand-new building and state-of-the-art facilities help us to achieve this, but it is the fantastic team of staff who turn our vision into reality. If you have the proven ability to inspire students in the classroom and beyond then this provides you with an exciting opportunity to further shape your practice and develop your career.

We offer:

• An ambitious leadership team with a clear vision for the Academy.

• Students with a desire to achieve.

• Great facilities

• A friendly and supportive team of staff who are always happy to help each other and share good practice.

• Strong support from SLT.

• Excellent career opportunities and progression, particularly as the school grows.

• The opportunity to be part of a successful 11-18 provision.
