Are you an experienced SENCO or inclusion leader ready for the next stage of your leadership journey? Do you have a proven track record of improving outcomes for children with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and those who face barriers to learning?

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our senior leadership team as Deputy Headteacher with SENCO responsibilities, playing a pivotal role in shaping our vision, culture and provision for children with SEND, vulnerable learners and their families.

This is a predominantly non-class-based leadership role, enabling the successful candidate to focus on strategic development and sustained impact while remaining closely connected to pupils, staff and families. Some cover will be required.

As Deputy Headteacher with SENCO responsibilities, you will

• Lead and shape the strategic vision for SEND, inclusion, attendance and vulnerable learners across the school.

• Drive improvements in outcomes, attendance, engagement and wellbeing for pupils who face barriers to learning.

• Work in partnership with the Headteacher and Governing Board to secure excellent educational experiences for every child.

• Influence and develop inclusive practice across the school, ensuring inclusion is everyone’s responsibility.

• Champion high aspirations for all pupils and help remove barriers to achievement.

• Build strong and effective partnerships with families, the local authority, health professionals and external agencies.

• Contribute fully to school improvement planning, strategic decision-making and wider leadership responsibilities as a member of the senior leadership team.

• Deputise for the Headteacher and provide effective operational leadership when required.

We are looking for a leader who

• Has successful experience of SEND leadership and a strong track record of improving provision and outcomes.

• Has uncompromisingly high expectations and aspirations for every child.

• Can inspire, support and challenge colleagues to improve provision and practice.

• Uses evidence, data and professional judgement intelligently to drive improvement.

• Builds trusted relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and external professionals.

• Is ready to take on wider whole-school leadership responsibilities and contribute strategically to the future direction of Hawkedale.

• Shares our belief that inclusion is not a department or a provision, but a culture.
