Helston Community College, part of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join our Pastoral Team as a Healthcare Champion.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to join our successful and supportive pastoral team, and will work alongside our current Healthcare Champion, assessing the medical and welfare needs of students and staff, as well as administering front line First Aid. The position will also include other administrative duties in support of the wider College, making this role both varied and interesting.
The main tasks are:
• Provide high quality support for students with social, emotional and mental health needs;
• Provide daily clinical care for all students and staff, evaluating and responding to medical needs and emergencies, administrating appropriate first aid, and liaising with emergency services as required;
• Administer prescribed medicines according to agreed protocols and College policies;
• Liaise with partner schools in order to assess students’ potential medical needs prior to their attendance at the College;
• Take responsibility for students with specialist medical needs, including the maintenance of care plans and communication with relevant parties;
• Network with internal and external health agencies;
• Maintain confidential records appropriate to the medical needs and wellbeing of students and staff.
Applicants must hold a current 3-day First Aid at Work Certificate as a minimum requirement. Relevant experience of working with young people with social, emotional and mental health needs in a school setting would be an advantage but is not essential. We would encourage anyone to apply who feels they have the necessary skills and abilities to fulfil this role.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff at Helston Community College who are committed to providing the best possible education for our students. In return, we are able to offer staff a secure, supportive environment with continuous professional development, as well as excellent benefits including a Local Government Pension Scheme and access to wellbeing services.
